Multi-Chamber Pressure Vessel Design

Certain industrial processes require pressure vessels to be built with multiple chambers operating under different design conditions. The COMPRESS Multi-Chamber Vessel Feature supports this type of design. Benefits of using this feature within COMPRESS include:

  • An accurate weight calculation.
  • Assurance that changes made to the chambers are accounted for in the overall vessel design.
  • Proper calculation of wind, seismic and other loads due to consideration of the vessel as a single structure.

How to Model A Multiple Chamber Vessel

  1. Specify either an internal head (check box on head dialog) or an intermediate skirt.
  2. Establish the chamber's operating conditions. Add liquid levels, nozzles and other attachments.
  3. Press F3 to run the code calculations. View each chamber's MAWP in the Pressure Summary report. Download Sample COMPRESS Report.
