ASME B16.47/B16.5 standard flanges are accepted for use in ASME Section VIII Division 1 under paragraph UG-44. Paragraph U-3/Table U-3 lists the Edition and Addenda of these standards that are adopted for use with each Edition/Addenda of Section VIII Division 1.

For each selected Edition/Addenda of the ASME Code, COMPRESS applies the corresponding Edition of ASME B16.47/B16.5. For example, 2004 Edition A05 of ASME Section VIII Division 1, Table U-3 lists ASME B16.5 approved Edition as 1996. The 2003 Edition of ASME B16.5 was adopted in ASME Section VIII Division 1 with the A06 Code Addenda. COMPRESS applies the Edition of B16.5/B16.47 that corresponds to the selected Edition/Addenda of Section VIII that the vessel is designed to.

There may be (and are) some slight differences in pressure-temperature ratings for same material class/flange class between Editions of B16.5 and B16.47. Some materials may not be listed in all Editions of these flange standards.
