Answer:

COMPRESS build 6253 and higher are compatible with Windows Vista as well as with earlier versions of Windows (e.g.: Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP). COMPRESS build 6252 and earlier are not compatible with any version of Windows Vista.

Currently, only the 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Vista are supported. COMPRESS is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows Vista.
