Question:
|
How do I specify a long weld neck flange to be
used as a nozzle in COMPRESS?
|
|
Answer:
|
Long Weld Neck (LWN) flanges (forgings) are
available in COMPRESS whenever a Type 1, 2, 3 or
4 nozzle has been selected. To add a LWN flange,
go to the nozzle dialog and select a type 1,2,3
or 4 nozzle. Next, click the "Add (Edit) ASME
B16.5/B16.47 Flange" button and specify
"Long weld neck" as the flange type. Note
that this setting forces COMPRESS to use the
pecified ASME B16.5/B16.47 flange material for the
nozzle wall as well. This means that COMPRESS will
use the specified B16.5/B16.47 flange material for
subsequent UG-37and UG-45 nozzle calculations.
Nozzle Types 10 and 11 provide access to HB, F and
other heavy wall self-reinforcing nozzle forgings.
Nozzle Types 10 and 11 consider the special rules
of Figure UG-40 sketches (e-1) and (e-2) when
determining dimensions "te"
and "tn".
