Question: |
Has COMPRESS undergone a certification process
to verify the accuracy of the ASME Code calculations
performed? Is COMPRESS verification documentation available? |
|
Answer: |
The ASME does not "certify" or otherwise approve or
register software or any other product or service.
Codeware has implemented an extensive in-house
quality assurance program.
Each COMPRESS Build is
thoroughly tested before release. These tests include
checks of calculations for correctness, accuracy and validity.
Software functionality is also tested. Hundreds of test files
are run in the "candidate" build with results automatically
compared to "hand checked" base standards.
Differences in program output must be the result of an
intentional change, such as a bug fix or feature addition.
Other differences are considered errors that require correction
prior to releasing the software.
Codeware's quality assurance procedures are described
Codeware's Quality Manual. The
COMPRESS Verification Manual
and
COMPRESS baseline verification files
are the result of applying Codeware's quality
assurance (standard operating)
procedures to a specific ASME Code Edition
or Addenda.
For a simple statement suitable for provision to
end customers, inspectors, auditors etc., please
see Appendix A of the COMPRESS Verification Manual.
