Codeware Key Update Procedure
We are pleased to announce that COMPRESS Build 6262 is now available.
Build 6262 implements the ASME VIII, Division 2 A08 Addenda in addition
to other enhancements. All COMPRESS users will need to update their USB
security key(s) before running Build 6262 (and later).
To do this, please follow the detailed
instructions in the "How to Update Your
COMPRESS USB Key" section below.
After you update your key, you will still be able
to run COMPRESS Build 6261 and earlier. Please note that this update procedure
will not change or extend your existing Support and Update Service
(SUS) renewal date.

How to Update Your COMPRESS USB Key

Part A: Download, Install and Run the Codeware Key Update Utility
|
|
Beginning with COMPRESS Build 6262
a new Key Update Utility will be used to apply COMPRESS passwords.
This new Key Update Utility will replace Key Manager.

On a computer with COMPRESS installed and your
USB key firmly attached (or on the COMPRESS Key Server for network users),
click this link

to download the Codeware Key Update Utility.

At the prompt: Do you want to run or save this file?
click Run.

At the prompt: The publisher could not be verified.
Are you sure you want to run this software? click Run.

Follow the onscreen installation instructions.
Once you receive the message: InstallShield Wizard
Completed click Finish.

If the Codeware Key Update Utility does
not open automatically, launch it from:
Start > All Programs > Codeware > Key Update Utility.

To generate your updated password (required to run Build 6262 and later),
please confirm your email address and send us your license information.

Confirm Your Email Address:
Enter your email into the
Your Email Address.
If you would like others to receive a copy of your password
(e.g. your IT department), enter their email addresses
separated by a comma (e.g. you@yourwebsite.com, joe@yourwebsite.com).

Send Us Your License Information:
Click Submit to send your information to Codeware.
Your firewall must allow FTP and HTTP traffic for the submission to occur.
If you are unable to send your key information, please email your
data directly to us following the steps
listed in FAQ 1332.
These instructions are located

question "When I run the Update Utility I receive an error message. What should I do?"

Once your information is received, a new password along with
applicable instructions will be sent within 5 business days to the
email address(es) you provided in Step 6.

You are now finished with Part A.
Please continue to Part B when you receive your new password.

Part B: Apply Your Password
|

Verify that the Key Update Utility is installed.
You can do this by selecting
Start > All Programs > Codeware > Key Update Utility.
Once you've confirmed that the utility is installed, you can close
the program. If the Codeware Key Update Utility is not installed,
please install it by following Steps 1-4 in Part A above.
This new Key Update Utility will replace Key Manager.

Double-click the file attached to
your email to apply your password.

Once your password has been applied,
the following message will be displayed.

Click OK.
This will notify Codeware that you have successfully
updated your key. FTP and HTTP traffic must be allowed
to enable you to transmit this acknowledgement. Please note
that your key will still update successfully even if you are
unable to send this confirmation.

You have now completed
the update process. No further action is required.
